The big moment was here. Charlotte was in labor. I saw the feet of the much anticipated kids poking out from Charlotte's rear end. The first kid was delivered; and it was a full-grown Elly May. The next kid came out; it looked just like Edna. Then, I was shocked to discover that she was having triplets! The last kid was a broiler chicken.
I woke up. I was surrounded by pillows and blankets. The time was 4:39am. It was all a dream...
But as I lay there, I started to wonder if I should go check on the real Charlotte. Those nagging thoughts of a excited (but nervous) goat farmer. I tip-toed out of bed and then realized that the high powered flashlight was left on a high windowsill. I crept back into the room and slowly climbed up on a lower windowsill to get the flashlight, all while trying to not wake up everyone else in the house!
I slipped on some flip-flops and opened the front door. The flashlight reflected in Charlotte's eyes, making them look like two shining beads glowing in the dark. Charlotte seemed happy and there were no signs of labor.
I crawled back in bed and enjoyed a bit more sleep.
Can't wait to see the kids!
ReplyDeleteYou had me there....LOL. I was so excited and thought they were born. When I got to the broiler chicken, well... laughter IS good medicine. Does the chicken get an "F" name too? How about Fried :))

HaHa! Yes, the broiler chicken would definitely be named "Fried!" That is what happened to the batch of broilers we had last summer!
DeleteHilarious dream! I was all excited, and then the bubble burst. ;) :P
