Resources

The main resource that inspired me to begin the "Goat Adventure" was Storey's Guide to Raising Dairy Goats, by Jerry Belanger & Sara Bredesen.  It gave me a good foundation of general goat functions and care.

A friend recently loaned me Natural Goat Care, by Pat Coleby.  Shortly after that, several more goat keepers recommended it to me!  I am hoping to read it cover-to-cover one day.  I appreciate the natural approach which challenges traditional goat care.  It is nice to have it on the library shelf for easy reference.

I found The Backyard Goat, by Sue Weaver available through the library.  It contains a lot of the goat-keeping basics.  I was fascinated by the chapter on clicker-training goats.

Hoegger Suppy Company is a wonderful resource!  Their full-color catalog is a feast for the eyes as well as very informative for the new goat keeper.

Caprine Supply is another goat supply resource.  A great place for purchasing "goat stuff."

Goats often keep me guessing as to what they are thinking and feeling.  Fias Co Farm is a great "go-to" site for determining goat care methods and common goat ailments.

New England Cheesemaking Supply Company is an excellent website for cheese makers and cheese lovers.  There are lots of detailed recipes and pictures.  I love their email "Moosletter!"
